The old trade fair city of Leipzig, with its canals and the White Elster River, is increasingly becoming a "port city." While the vibrant Plagwitz district can't compare to Venice, it certainly offers waterfront living. This former working-class neighborhood has undergone a rapid transformation in recent years into a cultural and trendy district. This rise was also fueled by the attractive loft apartments and townhouses with high-end finishes completed in 2017 on Nonnenstraße, designed by the architectural firm Osterwold°Schmidt.
The predominantly brick cladding of the buildings creates a connection to the local character and ensures long-term value. The facades harmonize with the surrounding buildings, which are listed industrial-style houses, and establish a link to the White Elster River. A mix of thin brick R773DF, R756DF, and R734DF contributes to this harmony. The accentuated brickwork on the ground floor emphasizes the expressiveness of the facade. This striking brick facade was created by combining 14 mm and 25 mm thick brick slips. The anthracite-colored, contrasting mortar further highlights the brickwork. Thanks to Feldhausbricks, the elegant crane houses in this desirable neighborhood on the White Elster River are truly unique.
