Feldhaus reference building with R140NF clinker brick slips

Educational institutions

Architect: Onix Architects (Groningen), Project: Utrecht, Netherlands, glazed thin brick , Living in the clouds...

Who doesn't dream of living in a cloud? That's exactly what architect Haiko Meijer of Onix Architekten and the client Student Housing Foundation (SSH) thought.

The glazed thin brick made the dream a reality for many students. Our subtle brick slip R140UT15 was quickly glazed in naturalistic blue and white by the Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum ceramics factory, one of the oldest Company in the Netherlands, transforming it into a building block for a heavenly structure. Approximately 8,700 square meters of facade were used for the "Johanna" student residence, which now houses 655 students of many nationalities in Utrecht. In a true paradise with top-quality rooms and a lovely outdoor area overlooking the adjacent Amelisweerd forest, the students live in a student paradise.
