Multi -family houses

Architect: Lewicki łatak (Kraków, Poland), object: Breslau, Poland, an open clinker wall in the neighborhood becomes inspiration for the form of the new architectural building.

The city of Wroclaw has been shaped by the clinker architecture of numerous historical buildings for centuries. The innovative “Corte Verona” residential building project also takes up this building material as a central design element and thus fits seamlessly into the neighborhood environment. At the beginning of the 1920s, the architects Paul Heim and Albert Kempter designed the Grabiszyn residential complex in this area. In addition, architectural objects such as walls, benches and fences were created: an open clinker wall in the neighborhood of "Corte Verona" was also an inspiration for the form of the new architectural structure. The clinker from the wall mentally correspond to the size of an apartment, the loggias place the gap between two stones. The building was awarded the shape of a block of houses, divided into public (outside), private (apartments) and half public areas (courtyard). Small shops that are accessible from the street are housed on the ground floor. There are apartments that can be reached by the inner courtyard through the entrance halls. There is a generously designed garage in the basement.

Most of the apartments are rather small. About 45 square meters of large units predominate in the building. They consist of a living room with a kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom and a small wardrobe in connection with a relatively large loggia of about eight square meters. Thanks to the loggias, the builders were able to offer the relatively long tracts more light by using corner windows. The building was designed as a system of transverse and along the sound -contained apartment partitions. The horizontal plates form the base construction elements. All structures consist of longitudinal walls, which are sounded on the apartment and corridor side by two separate layers of walls.

The facade consists of silicate plaster on the ground floor area with doors and aluminum windows. Thin Brick were used in the imperial format on the floors above. Two strengths and colors were used, which are alternately laid on each block of houses and result in a gradient in the overall picture. Wooden windows and glass balustrades complete the picture in the upper floors. The courtyard is reserved for pedestrians, but also accessible for special vehicles if necessary. The design of the courtyard came towards special attention: it is inspired by the paintings by Władysław Strzemiński. According to its image compositions, green spaces were created with lawn, flowers, shrubs and trees; Paths, ramps and steps as well as a sandpit with swings, rocking and benches support this composition.
