International design luminaries gathered in Essen on June 24, 2024, for the Red Dot Design Award ceremony to celebrate the winners of this year's competition. Leading chief designers from global brands such as Fiskars, Hilti, Ducati, Philips, LIXIL, Thule, and Logitech accepted the invitation. The first part of the ceremony took place at the Aalto Theatre in Essen. The subsequent after-show party was held in and around the Red Dot Design Museum , located on the grounds of the former Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex.

Red Dot Gala at the Essen Opera House

At 6 p.m. on June 24th, the lights dimmed in the auditorium of the theater designed by Alvar Aalto. After a grand opening, Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of Red Dot, welcomed the approximately 1,300 guests to the Red Dot Gala 2024. The Red Dot Gala has been celebrated at the Essen Opera House for 30 years. Mayor Thomas Kufen also emphasized this long-standing partnership in his speech. Following the opening remarks, the first round of the awards ceremony began. Together with Italian juror Luisa Bocchietto, Peter Zec presented the first trophies to the winners of the Red Dot: Best of the Best. This was followed by trophy presentations from jurors Omri Bar-Zeev from Israel and Nina Mihovec from Slovenia, both of whom were serving on the Red Dot jury for the first time.

Designers' Night – After-show party between design and culture

After the awards ceremony, the festivities continued with an after-show party held in and around the Red Dot Design Museum on the grounds of the former Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex. From a tour of the museum to a relaxed end to the evening in the beer garden, to lively celebrations, there was something for everyone. On the dance floor in the heart of the museum, DJ Chrissi D kept the party going and kept guests dancing until the early hours of the morning.
